Anthony Mora’s New Play
To Premiere At The Sidewalk Studio Theatre In 2009

A Documentary Film On The Making Of Modern Love Is Currently In Production.

Modern Love, the new play by Anthony Mora will premiere at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre in Toluca Lake California in 2009.  A documentary following the development, auditions, rehearsals, trials, mishaps and eventually the premiere of a play in L.A. is currently in production.  The documentary, which will make the rounds at the various film festivals, is being co-produced and directed Anthony Mora.

Modern Love follows an L.A.-based film producer turned writer/director whose obsession with his directorial debut takes him down a dark, precarious path.

“Initially I was working on developing the play.  Kurt Swanson from the Sidewalk Studio Theatre had produced my two previous works and we were beginning on our third project.  I then thought it would be interesting to document the development, rehearsal and audition process of launching a play in L.A.  Theatre, particularly small theatre is a bit of the forgotten stepchild in L.A. where film and TV reign.  So I also want to include a look at other theatres and productions to capture a sense of the L.A. theatre world.

In January of 2009, The Sidewalk will present the world premiere of Modern Love, Anthony Mora's newest work.  The play which will be produced by Kurt Swanson and directed by Anthony Mora, will feature  Aubrie Wienholt, Rico Simonini, Ann Convery, Laura McLauchlin and Zane Helberg.

Other Works by Anthony Mora

Anthony serves as the playwright-in-residence at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre.  In 2006, the Sidewalk Studio Theatre premiered two plays by Anthony, P.O.P. The Principles of Perfection and BANG! A Love Story, which Anthony adapted for the stage from his novel. Scenes from Bang! featuring Linda Cardellini were performed at the Acme Theater in Los Angeles and The American Place Theater in New York.  Originally released in hardcover in 1998, by Dunhill Publishing, Dragonon Inc. published the revised softcover edition of Anthony Mora’s controversial, award winning novel, in 2005.

In August 2006, BANG! A Love Story, by Anthony Mora, premiered at L.A.'s Sidewalk Studio Theatre. Adapted for the stage by Anthony, BANG! was produced by Kurt Swanson, directed by Christian Kennedy, and featured Jennifer Tetlow, Rico Simonini, Ann Convery and Roberto Sanchez.

POP: The Principles of Perfection, by Anthony Mora, premiered at the Sidewalk Theatre Studio in June  2006.   POP was produced by Kurt Swanson, directed by Christian Kennedy and featured actors Melissa Tan and Kevin T. McCarthy.
